" Starting a war to stop a war makes no sense. Before Iraq, America never did. The policy throws everything off, the political uncertainty is bad for world business and diplomacy. It has artificially driven up the price of oil,  each 'saber rattling episode'  is the unseen cost added to a barrel and the first strike idea is a big reason our army is stuck in Iraq."

If we diffuse political tension in the Middle East, we may be able to reduce the war threat supply interruption cost we pay now, built into each barrel of oil we buy.  The other unseen price rise pusher built into the cost per barrel, the speculation expectation of rising prices  should go down as well. We are not only paying for the cost of taking the oil out of the ground but for these other unseen costs which are political in nature. yet are added to the cost per barrel. Let us go after these costs and push them down. It takes leadership."
